Since we've started walking again every evening, I've noticed an odd and occasionally upsetting trend.
Several homes in my neighborhood, a pretty typical middle-class, suburban Austin subdivision, have two or MORE of the same car in the driveway. I need photos to validate this claim, but I'm too apprehensive about snapping people's homes.
For example: a red and a blue Prius, same generation, a pair of white F150 crew cabs, same generation, two Honda Fits, one white Sport, and one black Base, three Toyota Camrys, all black, two current generation, one two gens old, and my favorite, FOUR Hyundai Sonatas, all the same beige/off-white, all same generation, all with the same wheels.
It's just... weird.

My mom and I both had Infiniti G35s. I got the rear drive six speed that we originally had, and then she bought an AWD.
Then after I bought my Z4, she went and bought a Z4 as well. My first thing I said?
"Damn! Now I have to go to the Porsche dealer..."

Do you live in a rental parking lot?

Duplicate cars... by chance would they be in front of homes such as these?

I don't have to much a problem with it so long as it makes sense. I mean lets say I want a reliable commuter thats cheap and easy so I buy a fit, but my 19 year daughter needs a reliable ride for when she heads off to college and hey, I'm a pretty big wheel down at the cracker factory and can make the payments so I give her my old fit and buy a new one, because its been a good car for me...why take the risk on an unknown quantity?

I know for a fact there is a house in DC off Massachusetts Avenue that has three white Range Rovers and a Land Rover. Never ceases to amaze.

Out where I live in New Jersey, I have seen a house with 2 red chargers that were the same, and then one house with like 3 90's sentras.

This might happen at my house. The mazda3 I'm driving now might get passed on to my brothers. And I'm just gonna turn around and buy another one. :)

I haven't seen any 2014s in Canada yet. If I had, maybe, but as it stands, I'd buy another first gen.

Houses with multiple versions/units of the same car are everywhere in my neighborhood. On a particular street in my neighborhood, there's:
A house with two last-gen Camrys - one red, one silver
A house with two conversion vans - one a Chevy, the other a GMC. Same generation, as far as I know.
A house that used to/may still have two Wranglers - one white, the other black or blue.
A house that used to have two Saab 900SE's - they were identical, as far as I can remember.
My street has a home with people who I believe run a Toyota dealership - in addition to the last-gen and current-gen Camry hybrids, they have a second-gen Avalon, a third-gen pre-refresh Avalon, had the refreshed version of the last-gen Avalon at one point, and had a current-gen Avalon for some time recently. Another house on my street with two last-gen Camrys - red and blue, same trim level and post-refresh.
Another street in my neighborhood has several Civics at one house, and I know of a house in another town that has two Dodge Calibers - one orange, one blue.

I had 3 e39s, but I sold one a few weeks back, so I'm down to 2. The e39 is fun, pretty, safe, good on gas, and practical. Basically the perfect daily driver. So everyone gets one for DD duty.
But I also have a bunch of other cars to fulfill the various roles that the e39s can't. I don't understand having multiples of the same car, but nothing else.
